About Swiss Wander

Swiss Wander is an English-language Switzerland travel guide — hikes, ski resorts, Christmas markets and winter escapes — built around one idea: the best day in the Alps ends in warm water. Wandern is the Swiss German word for hiking, and every trail and ski day here is paired with the closest spa hotel or thermal bath.
Who writes this
I'm Elisa, and I'm Swiss — even if my accent hasn't been for a long time.
I was born in Lausanne, in a flat where you could see Lake Geneva if you leaned out of the window far enough. When I was five, my family moved to the south of France. I traded the Alps for olive trees, the lake for the Mediterranean, and snowy winters for long, hot summers.
But Switzerland never really let me go. Every year, I come back — and every year, it's the same ritual: lace up the boots, take the first train up the valley, and walk until the cities disappear behind a ridge. A turquoise lake under a glacier. A cowbell somewhere below the trail. A cheese sandwich that tastes better at 2,000 meters than anywhere on earth.
And at the end of the day, always the same reward: warm water. A thermal pool in Leukerbad with the cliffs turning pink at sunset. A mineral bath on the Rigi above a sea of clouds. A hotel spa in Grindelwald, legs aching, the Eiger outside the window.
That's where this site comes from. Growing up between two countries, I learned to see Switzerland the way a visitor does — and to know it the way a local does. I kept meeting travelers on the trails who'd planned a perfect hike but had no idea there was a thermal bath twenty minutes away. Swiss Wander is the guide I wish I could have handed them: the best trails, paired with the best place to soak afterwards.
Hike by day, soak by night. See you on the trail.
